On Thursday 16th November we celebrated the grand opening of Aspect Vern Barnett School following extensive renovations. It was an unforgettable evening and the night was a true celebration of community and progress. Our school has been transformed with fifteen state-of-the-art classrooms, sensory areas, playgrounds, and more, all designed for autism-specific needs. Guests were welcomed into the school with small group tours run by the passionate Vern Barnett staff.
The event began with a beautiful Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony followed by inspiring speeches from Jacqui Borland, Aspect CEO, Maryanne Gosling, Director of Aspect Education, and Mr Matt Cross, Member for Davidson.
The night's highlight was Jacqui Borland and former Aspect Vern Barnett school student Max Epper cutting the ribbon to officially open the new campus!
We were privileged to hear from P&F representative Deb Munro who spoke beautifully about the importance of the Aspect community's tight-knit support system. Principal Anna Brady took the stage to highlight all of the Vern Barnett staff as well as the significant educational contributions of Aspect Educator Chris Frost, who has celebrated an impressive 40 years at the school. A truly special night for the Aspect Vern Barnett school community.
Thank you to all of our supporters who have contributed to turning our school into an amazing learning environment where students can be their true selves and feel supported. Here's to new beginnings, to growth, and to every student who walks through our doors ready to learn, play, and reach their full potential!
