Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) has successfully secured $367,000 from the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership program to help upgrade and renovate Aspect schools and individual services buildings.

In total, Aspect had 19 grant applications approved, a fantastic outcome for students and participants, who will be the main beneficiaries.

Aspect CEO, Jacqui Borland said that grants were a win for little projects that would make a big difference.

“$360,000 spread over 19 applications may not seem like a lot to some people, but it will make a huge difference at a number of our schools and individual community services.

“This funding will help with classroom repairs and updates to all eight of our Aspect schools in NSW and will contribute to a major new fit out of our new Therapy Clinic in Baulkham Hills.

“The funding will deliver new outdoor shade and play areas, new electronic signage, upgrades to security, new cabinetry, upgrades to classrooms and outdoor playgrounds.

“And while most of the works are relatively small, those small differences will help to make life for a student, participant or staff member that bit more comfortable and/or accessible,” Ms Borland said.

The NSW Government Community Building Partnership program awards grants to NSW local government and not for profit organisations to invest in infrastructure that will deliver positive social, environmental, and recreational outcomes while promoting community participation, inclusion and cohesion.
